hmmm lets see,

My system detected as Very High settings and i even go a intel Quad loading screen the first time ive seen one. but then
1, Video sceens run funny, not jerky but a little strange
2, voice and lips sync funny.
3, the movement just didnt feel nice.
4, again like the video it just didnt feel right.
Maybe i need to use the new nvida beta drivers, but stand still and look at the effects they are amazing but that crisp farcry game feel is out the window. I have a bad feeling this is going to be a bad game but pretty to look at.

Here’s my 26.5p in no particular order…

I got the quad logo too - I think it’s just part of the startup video.

That lip sync problem and the funny delayed movement thing is because of slow framerate.

The beta drivers recommended for this demo don’t work for 64bit Crysis. I had to revert back to the last whql release from nvidia.

Full 1920×1200 just isn’t an option on my system. Our screens are in 16:10 ratio so the best screen res that I found is 1280×960. Most of the advanced options can be set to high at this res. I had a play but am at work so I don’t know what my final settings were but most were high / very high and I was getting 47fps. This is much more playable.

With everything set to low I was getting 130fps but it looked like the original half life.

The install doesnt work properly on vista (or 64 bit vista?) meaning I didn’t have an entry for the game in my start menu, I had to run it from the directory on the drive.

playing in god mode with unlimited ammo is a real hoot! you can just run around with your finger on the fire button. Much easier!

Attacking the ships on the horizon with one of the little boats causes them to attack you with surface to surface missiles :)

To do god mode, unilimited ammo, longer suit powerups etc follow the stuff spouted here:

All in all, when the settings are set right it’s not bad at all but I’m very disappointed in the water, especially where it hits the beach. Original farcry looked better!

Ok then.. ahem:
Got a Core Duo logo, not a Quad but it DID look like a vid.
After the install I too had to go look for the app exe, no start menu stuff here too. Very poor start, doesnt really give me confidence in the game if they cant get the install ok! Also asked to update a MS hiotfix, no warning and it looked a bit suspect tbh, blah did it anyhoo!
The game ran and I immediately set it to 1900×1200 andVHigh.I did indeed look fab when I stood still but unplayable when moving, the FPS was between 9 and 12!
I did set it to lower and had a good play but may well have selected the wrong ration screen, must try the suggested 1280×960.
I liked the look of the game but it was simply Farcry 2. I really didbnt like the mode select playmodes, I never really knew if stealth, speed or sheild was more appropriate.
Killing the baddies was actually really hard. I played on normal and most took 10 or so rounds to kiill.
The end of the demo was pants too! It jsut went black and dropped to the menu.
All in all, I liked it. Wouldnt spend a penny on it though. It’s far too similar to the 50 other FPS shooters out there. For me, it needs to have an angle or new playmode to get me to pass over my pennies. However, if I can get it on the download! That’s different as you may remember from our chat at poker, I love free downloads and copywrite infringement! ;)
p.s. Who shot the Turtle as soon as you landed on the beach? I picked him up and threw him on a stone! Nice.

I read the demo has no support for dual or quad core yet until offical release.

An like Soop, which i forgot to add in my post i played in normal mode and was pissed off at how hard and many times you had to hit someone to take them out. in fact it was almost silly the way the guys danced around and said ouch as you shot them. I really think there should delay the release the game is no where near ready. ive read a few forums today and its not going down too well.

Ah the risk they take when they release a demo! I bet they wish they had just shipped the game now.
The argument for hard to kill mobs is that it makes it more a strategic attack rather than an all out fragfest. Wheres the fun in that! I didnt want fucking Splinter Cell! Calm down, calm, breathe.
To give them some credit tho, our rigs would liook the dogs if we had “normal” monitors and not our behemoths!

My experience was much the same as everybody’s else’s. Installed the game and like Blowfish had no icons for the game. When I found the exe and ran it, the game was in it’s default 1024×768 mode. I went into options and found that I could not get my mouse to go to the left of the screen to set the options!! I found the only way for me to edit the options was to click on windowed mode. Once that was done I was able to edit the options.
I set the game into 1900×1200 and it defaulted to vhigh for all of the options. I ran the game and liked the opening sequence…then when the game started properly, my framerate was really crappy. I decided to stick with the screen size and down the antialias to zero. This improved the framerate, but jesus, will I have to do this with the retail version? I bloody hope not!
As for gameplay, TBH I did’nt like it. I was playing on easy and I thought the enemy’s took an awful lot of rounds to go down. The rifles accuracy sucked and I found myself hosing off large ammounts of ammo to take them out. The suit functions were nice, but I found them hard to access in the heat of battle..middle mouse button is not a good idea! and I didn’t find the shortcut keys for the ability’s.
I thought the vehicles controls were horibble, I spent most of the time crashing into things.
I played for about 20 mins before I got bored and left the game. It just didn’t grab me, I thought the senery would be amazing but it just looked like the first farcry, the weapons were a pain in the arse to use, low power, low accuracy and the vehicles were difficult to control. Add the above to the fact that I had to drop graphics quality to play it, I don’t think Crysis will be on my christmas list.
