No country for Old Men

Normally the Oscar nominated films aren’t really my bag, but like most years I try to check them out missing any romantic epics and odd gay cowboy films.
This year’s watch has been “no country for old men” and “Michael Clayton”. I have just finished No country for old men and was totally blown away with the film. Before watching it I thought It was going to be some boring film about a Texan sheriff played by Tommy lee Jones. What it turned out to be, was a cant take your eyes off the film thriller that even in the boring talkie bits had me hooked to the screen for the quality of acting and dialog.
I don’t want to spoil the plot for you as the film unwinds as it plays. I really want to give this film 10/10 and put it in my top 10 films of all time, but I feel I must knock a point off for the ending and give it 9/10 and warn that like me, you may find yourself screaming at the TV at the end. I would love to know what you all think about it.

We watched it a couple of weeks ago and loved it too. Fab gun, great tension, weird end.
7.9/10 here.

Oh yes. You can just tell that the guy that played the baddie is gonna get LOADS of offers off the back of this, his part was played so well.

I didn’t like it. Did they run out of money at the end? and what was Tommy lee Jones role in the film? His character did nothing except narrate the plot. All of the characters except for the bad guy were extras they came and went so fast, I lost track of who was a goody and who was a baddy.
The acting was good, have to give you that, but I found as I watched the film, I became more and more frustrated with the plot. The whole film just didn’t seem to get anywhere. It gets a 4/10 from me.

Just watched it… when is the rest coming out?

Tommy could have been cut out of the film without it changing at all. He did nothing for the plot.

6/10 …. It would have got a 3 but the acting was very good.

Funny you say that about Tommy, i wonderd if i saw something in it that wasnt really there, all the way through the film tommy was battleing with the desire to retire before like his father and uncle they ended up dieing on duty.

The end scene in the room, did the bad guy flip a coin to see if he left out the window or stayed and killed the sheriff. Tommy saw the coin and knew then how close he was to dieing, the baddeh always left the coin with the prey when they where lucky.

it was a key thread that i enjoyed about the film.

Only just watched it, thought it was great & Tommy Lee Jones was the entire point of the film! Hence the title & who didn’t think he was going to say the title at the end? :)
