When I was travelling around Oz (did I mention I did that?) I found myself in the middle of nowhere at 1am with NO lights around. It was AMAZING! The stars could be seen from horizon to horizon. I saw a shooting star too.
I love watching the night sky, for me the best view was in the Maldives. At night when the island powers down there is zero light to spoil the view, when you look up you truly know what real black is and that the stars are so bright plus there are so many more you can see, which you cant in the UK.
I am still planning on making the trip one year to the edge of the arctic circle to see the northern lights and see the night sky from the best vantage point on earth, Maybe we can swing past Texas on the way back!
As the guy said in the comments, he did use a filter to enhance the Milky Way. So you wouldn’t see it with the naked eye like that, although he did comment further down that you can see it with the naked eye and that it resembles storm clouds. Pretty cool stuff though.
So gay…he should’ve put the Monty Python Galaxy Song on it…”Just remember that you’re standing, on a planet that’s evolving, and revolving at 900 miles an hour…”
Cool , opening shot of Contact is still the scariest-we-are-soooo-fucking-insignificant-thing I’ve ever seen though
Struth! Is that real? If so, who wants to go next year? I MEAN IT.
