Love the photos app (as long as you get the option to read the photos from the network – there’s no way all my photos would fit on that thing)

likes: lovely tech, great form factor, nice big screen, good for non iphone peeps, +5 on the cool plaything charts!
middling: waste for iphone users, no camera.
BIG hates: no flash, no multi tasking again!! They have a 1ghz cpu, let us multi task you numpties. Why cant I browse the web and ping off an instant message or have a non apple app (like a internet radio app) running too. Blah.
… Getting one on the first day of course!

When i fist saw it, i felt very let down. Dont like the big black band and it didnt really look anything more than a big iphone.
I also wonder how locked down it will be. Iphone level or Mac?
I loved the way he said the price 499….. this isnt cheap considering what a laptop sells for these days. Again its going to sell to peeps you think these gadgets give you a lifestyle.

Amazed and the disapointed :(
Love the look and feel. Hate the fact that it’s using the iPhone OS. What a waste, if they had put full osx on the thing I could watch everything on the web (Flash) and download stuff as well. All we’ve ended up with here is a large ipod touch!
I wanted it to be able to store apps and data and share them with my existing equipment. I wanted the freedom to install normal applications and use them. I can’t use it as a paper notebook replacement as I can’t write on the thing. As soop says, no multitasking!, you have to be kidding me.
I think I will wait for the PC versions to ship and go for one of them. Sorry Apple, I love the iPhone but you can keep this.

Great comment. You are spot on about the OS. I recon this will kill the Kindle, apple will Market it to the non tech consumer but it won’t sell a 10th of what a osx device would have.
However, what will OS 4.0 bring? With some more Mac like features, it’ll steal the netbook world too.
Now we wait for July :(
p.s what do I know, I said the Segway would change the world!!

OS 4 won’t change the connectivity and software issues. There is no way that apple will open the iPad up to allow us to use regular programs. They want us to buy crappy apps from the apps store. Did you see the part in the keynote where the guy talked about Iworks for the iPad, what a joke! Nobody uses those apps and they could have saved themselves a years worth of devlopment if they just put OSX on the thing. Also with OSX you could have the flexability to bootcamp the unit, giving you the freedom to run Windows as well.
The iPad is going to be another Macbook Air. Looks good but is useless in operation. I don’t think Steve Jobs was correct when he said that the iPad beats smartphone’s and laptops at what it does….Only in cloud cuckoo land Steve :)
